Millions of Americans suffer from chronic wounds stemming from diabetes, circulatory
problems and complications following surgery. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works by
“pushing” pure oxygen to the bloodstream, tissues and cells, allowing very high
levels of oxygen to be dissolved into the blood plasma which heals the wound from
the inside out.
Likely candidates for treatment are those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure
ulcers, infections, compromised skin grafts and flaps and wounds that have not healed
within 30 days.
For hospitals and clinics specializing in wound healing and hyperbarics see page
68 of this guide.
